FOREX-Trader PRO web

Along with the well-known MetaTrader 4, the US broker GAIN Capital Holdings, Inc. has developed its own forex platform called FOREXTrader PRO. The company offers its financial services under the name Forex.com. Platform is available as desktop and web-based versions.

The company website warns that the web platform is not supported by Google Chrome browser and it requires downloading and installing of Microsoft Silverlight plugin.

The default workspace consists of five windows that can be moved, resized and closed. Like the desktop version, there is a menu bar but each tab opens in drop-down menu and not in the option bar below it. There is a bar below the main menu bar but the most used icons are there and they cannot be changed.

Trading panel is below the icons bar and there the instruments are shown as cubes. Each cube shows the symbol name, amount and sell and buy prices. Market orders can be placed directly by clicking on the buy or sell buttons. Open positions appear in the separate window with tabs Open positions, Active orders and Activity log. Take-profit and stop-loss of the open position can be set in the Place Order window that appears afterwards. Right click on the open position calls My Position window, where it can be modified or closed (must click on the Manage button). Double click on the open position shows its details window, where it can also be closed. Customers can choose between market or instant execution modes. This can be set from the Trading preferences menu in the Edit menu, or from the preferences icon.

Chart window is below the trading panel and looks simpler than the one in the desktop version. There are 11 time-frames – from 1 minute to 1 month. Tabs are intended for different instruments or for the same instruments with different time-frames. Thus, customers can monitor long-term and short-term trends at the same time. Charts can be displayed as candlesticks, bars or lines. Graphical objects include trend lines, vertical and horizontal lines and Fibonacci retracements. There are more than 50 indicators that is sorted by groups. Charts can be zoomed by clicking on magnifier buttons or by dragging price or time bars, while the mouse scroll wheel moves charts left or right. Orders can also be placed from the chart window by clicking on the sell or buy buttons.

The other windows are for news and economic calendar, for instruments list and custom watch list and for Autochartist. Autochartist recognizes market patterns and suggests the next price direction. It is well organized and can be a useful feature for fans of technical analysis. Orders can be placed directly from this window and by right click on the symbol from the instrument list window.

The most used icons include Enter Order, Liquidate All Open Positions, Economic Calendar, Margin Calculator, Price Alerts, Account Summary, Preferences, Save Settings, My Account, Chat and Change Password. All features can be selected from the main menus where they are arranged thematically. Each window can be hide and shown from the Window menu. Account summary is displayed on the bottom of the platform. It includes Account balance, Current result, Margin levels and Margin indicator showing percentage points.
