Along with the well-known MetaTrader 4, the UK broker TF Global Markets (UK) Ltd provides its own forex platform called ThinkTrader. The company offers its financial services under the name ThinkMarkets. Platform is available as desktop and web-based versions.
The web-based platform looks simpler and tidy than the desktop version. It can be launched on every computer with an Internet connection and doesn’t require any download or installation.
The default workspace is divided into four windows and the main role is given to the middle one. All other windows can be hidden and the platform could consist of one window only. Various widgets can be added or removed from each of them so that the user gets a custom view. The initially added widgets are Main instruments, Markets Explorer, Majors, Messages and Positions.
Clicking on an instrument from the list shows a cube with Sell and Buy buttons, the spread and the quantity. If 1-click feature is active, orders can be placed without confirmation. Open positions are shown in the Positions window. They can be modified or closed there. If 1-click feature is not active, clicking on the buy or sell button opens a New Order window. Stop loss and take profit orders can be specified there and pending orders can be set.
The main tabs (Trade, Tools and My Account) are in the menu bar at the top of the platform. Account information is displayed next to them. There is a setting menu providing account statement, 1-click activating.
The Trade tab has 7 sub-tabs that show the relevant information in the main window. It can be maximized by hiding other windows. The first subtab is for charts. There are 10 time-frames – from 1 minutes to 1 month and charts can be displayed as candles, bars and lines. The default colors are not very convenient to work and it is recommended to be changed in the settings menu. The mouse can be turned into a crosshair with data box. Graphical objects include trend lines, horizontal and vertical lines, channel, text and Fibonacci retracement. There are 90 technical indicators sorted alphabetically. Charts can be zoomed by the dedicated slider below time data or by using the mouse scroll wheel.
The Dashboard tab shows all instruments as cubes. If 1-click function is active, cubes are a more convenient way to quickly opening a position without having to confirm. Fans of the technical analysis can use the Opportunities features. Different chart patterns defined automatically by the Authochartist can be found here.
